About Harshit "Hashbass" Misra
Harshit 'Hashbass' Misra is currently one of youngest in demand bass players out there in the world today. Having studied under the greats, plus his vast musical knowledge combined with an unbelievable work ethic and super solid grooves is what makes Hashbass a true rising star.
Hashbass is the living proof of that if you follow your passion and if you work hard then your wildest dreams will come true. While studying to become a mechanical engineer, Hashbass quickly realized that he couldn't hold back his love for music, and simply had to follow that dream through. Luckily, fate would have it that shortly after quitting his mechanical engineer study a chance for admission to the School of Audio Engineering in Chennai appeared, and Hashbass gained entry to the career path of his dreams. After only 4 months at the new college he was offered a spot as the bass player for local prog.rock act (83 MPH), and from there on there was no stopping. Hashbass practiced tirelessly and soon the awards for his solid bass playing began rolling in. Together with (83MPH) he won India's biggest band competition, Channel V Launch Pad, and along the way he garnered tons of accolades himself, included several Best Bass Player awards at college and at professional competitions.
But again fate would see to that Hashbass could take his career to the next level, when he suddenly got the chance to compete for a full scholarship at the Musician Institute of Los Angeles. Hashbass finished second, which earned him a part scholarship and the chance to study under some of the finest musicians in Los Angeles. In 2014 he won an Outstanding Student award, which saw him become a faculty member at the Musician Institute.
Hashbass loves to bring all kinds of musical vibes and flavors to the table, which his musical inspirations clearly show as they range from Yellow Jacket to J Dilla to Gospel to Ravi Shankar. During his 7 years as a session player he's been fortunate to play with acts like Candice Glover (American Idol Winner), Wayne Brady, Girl Radical and Grammy Award winner, Jackie Boyz.
