Jack Gibson 简介
Jack Gibson is the long tenured bass player for celebrated US thrash metal group Exodus. He’s been rocking with the band since 1996 and shows no signs of slowing down.
Cited as a major influence by almost every thrash metal band out there Exodus was formed in 1981 in San Francisco with Kirk Hammett, Tom Hunting, Paul Baloff, Jeff Andrews and Garry Holt as founding members. Known as the “Kings of the Bay Area”, the band had great success on the metal scene despite undergoing many changes in the original line-up and two extended hiatuses. Their first three explosive albums, Bonded by Blood, Pleasures of the Flesh, and Fabulous Disaster sealed Exodus’ reputation as one of the most crafty and talented thrash metal bands.
In 1996, eight albums into the group’s career, Jack Gibson joined the band contributing his dazzling bass tones to the next five outings. The first record they released with Gibson in the band was the 1997 live album Another Lesson in Violence, which was subsequently praised for its exquisite sound, awesome use of instruments and for having a great live feel to it, without a lot of studio tampering. Gibson was appreciated for his smooth bass tone and for being able to easily adapt to the Exodus sound.
Soon after, the band went on their second hiatus only to reform in 2001 for the Thrash of the Titans benefit on behalf of Testament’s Chuck Billy. Their first release after the reunion was 2004’s Tempo of the Damned, immediately followed by Shovel Headed Kill Machine in 2005. Although this period was marked by different changes in the groups’ line-up, it was quite a prolific stretch as they toured intensively through the US, Europe, Japan and Australia.
Recently, Exodus has performed as an opening act for Rob Zombie and Slayer’s Hell on Earth tour. In 2012 they will take on South American venues in their quest to teach audiences of the new millennium their unparalleled “lesson in violence”.
Most know Gibson only as the powerful bass player in Exodus, but in fact he has also fathered the bluegrass brainchild, Coffin Hunter – a band that combines Gibson’s love for Nashville music and for playing banjo, giving off a vibe of true Americana like a mix of C.W. McCall, Jerry Reed and Sergio Leone.
Passionate player that he is, Gibson has opted to have TC's Blacksmith and RS410 in his gear in order to get great quality sound.
