Ged Grimes 简介
Ged Grimes is an utterly cool, dedicated and professional musician, producer and composer. He is the type of guy, who can nail a live performance in front of more than 70.000 people, with only three days to learn more than 30 songs.
This he did, in his first live concert as bassist for the legendary rock group Simple Minds, which he is currently a member of.
As one of the founding members of the band Danny Wilson, Grimes began his career by moving to London with hopes of making it in the music industry. He stayed for a whole four years, working hard to make ends meet.
In London, Grimes and the rest of the band ran out of money, food and hope, so they decided to move back to Dundee, Scotland.
This was a turning point for Danny Wilson and led to the band’s breakthrough and hits, such as "Mary's Prayer" and "The Second Summer of Love". After the break-up of Danny Wilson, Grimes focused his attention on writing, performing and producing for other artists, like Eddi Reader, Simply Red and Natalie Imbruglia.
Grimes has also worked extensively on both television and film projects. His television credits include Tartan Shorts.
As the owner of Jack's Hoose Music, Grimes has worked on a number of interactive entertainment media projects.
For example, he composed the soundtrack for the PC game Earthworm Jim 3D and score material for Universal Pictures, which included work featured on the trailer for "The Bourne Supremacy".
Grimes has also been featured on tracks for Sony PS2's DJ Decks and FX and music themes for a series of mobile games for Digital Bridges.
The Spanish speaking artist’s recent projects include title themes for Sky Games including the video game Shrek the Third, Ben 10, Goldenballs and the Latin American flavored soundtrack to iPhone and iPad game Quarrel.
In recent years, Grimes has also been part of Scottish band Deacon Blue. He played bass on the first live incarnation of Lostboy! AKA Jim Kerr and appeared on the short Lostboy! AKA Promo Tour 2010.
On the 11th of September, 2010, Grimes made his debut as Simple Minds' new bass player in front of more than 70.000 people, at the Fête de l'Humanité festival in Paris, France.
Grimes only had three days to learn around 30 Simple Minds songs – without a rehearsal or even a soundcheck.
Cool and professional as he is, Grimes nailed it! Simple Minds is currently working with Grimes on new material expected out in 2017.
