Computer Recording Taken To The Road

Jeff Waters, guitarist, mix/engineer, producer and mastermind behind Canada’s metal pride "Annihilator", uses the Konnekt 8 firewire audio interface on tour. With an astonishing 12 studio albums in their back catalog, Annihilator have spent the better part of the last two decades on the road, leaving only little time for writing and recording new material once home from the road. Jeff knows a thing or two about getting the best of life on the road while getting down to the business of composing songs for the next album.

On the tour bus, Jeff’s recording setup (a Sony Vaio firewire laptop with Steinberg's Cubase4) is geared towards being able to, not only write riffs/songs, but to actually USE these tracks on the next Annihilator CD.
His biggest challenge was finding a portable unit that could faithfully give him a DI guitar/bass tone that he could re-amp later, once back in his studio.

“Anything I tried was great for writing, but sounded pretty bad when I went back to the studio and re-amped with it... that is, until I heard the Konnekt 8”, Jeff comments.

Konnekt 8 comes with two high quality IMPACT™ preamps that effectively put an end to his worries and with Hi-Z inputs that preserve the original tone and sonic quality of guitar and bass instruments, Konnekt 8 ensures outstanding quality recordings and a perfect and unbiased signal flow - from the first to the last take.

A spin off of Jeff’s Konnekt 8 acquisition: “Now I can lure other musicians and bands I tour with to throw on a few lead tracks on some of my riffs and then put them through my killer studio guitar amps later and make them sound like God!”
