Off-Line Measuring in Pro Tools
Loudness measuring is based on subjective perception, so your program material can in fact overload if normalized the traditional way (quasi-peak or sample-peak). Therefore, normalization is also part of many broadcast standards, and to comply, you must use a true-peak meter.
A true-peak meter looks at the actual samples as well as inter sample peaks, which means that it can unveil peaks that would otherwise cause distortion.
LM2n and LM6n help you get a precise reading that allows you to normalize your audio without compromising the quality.

Pro Tools users will appreciate the off-line function, measuring your audio loudness faster than real time by running LM2n or LM6n as an Audio Suite plug-in.

You can set the size of LM2n and LM6n to either 'Normal' or 'Big'.
The 'Normal' size is ideal when you're right in front of your monitor.

We've developed the desaturated view due to special requests from our users in the film industry.
While you would normally choose the full color version of the radar, film professionals prefer a desaturated view that does not take away focus from the visual side of their production.

Custom Surround Channel Order (LM6n)
When changing views, you're never in any danger of altering your actual routing. Routing takes place inside the host application and is not user editable.
New Peak to Loudness Ratio Parameter
The New Peak to Loudness Ratio Parameter gives you a great way to get in touch with the transient limiting and clipping that would otherwise go unnoticed with Loudness Range.
PLR is also relevant when tailoring a track or a program to a certain amount of downstream headroom. For instance, ATSC A/85 and EBU R128 provide 22 dB of headroom, while Sound Check in iTunes offers 16 dB of headroom.
By keeping an eye on the PLR you will be able to preserve the quailty of your audio. If your PLR reading is low, your audio is squashed, but it will not gain loudness as it will be corrected at the point of transmission. In fact, a heavily compressed track will end up sounding softer than more dynamic tracks once the loudness has been corrected.

LM2n or LM6n?
LM2n and LM6n are almost identical. Both plug-ins give you super-accurate loudness measuring, normal and big radar views, faster-than-realtime AudioSuite measuring in Pro Tools and much more.
Only two things set them apart:
- LM2n Supports Mono and Stereo - LM6n Supports Mono, Stereo and 5.1 Surround
- LM6n Includes Logging of Loudness Stats. LM2n Does Not
So, if you need to work with 5.1 surround or need to log your loudness stats, LM6n is your best choice.

Media Composer Presets
The LM2n and LM6n loudness meters obviously support Pro Tools, but if you are in broadcast, chances are that you also use Avid's Media Composer. Therefore, we have included an option that allows broadcasters to create one or more custom presets that can be uploaded to a central network drive - it could be a preset tailored for radio, another for podcast, one for iTunes, etc. Now, only these custom presets can be chosen by the station's Media Composer users.

Defined by The International Telecommunication Union, the ITU BS.1770 recommendation is global and one of the most important broadcast standards as many other standards are based on it.
Our broadcast products supports all revisions of BS.1770, including the latest BS.1770-3.
The P/LOUD group, which is part of The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), has defined the R128 standard that applies to many European countries.
ATSC A/85 is specified by The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and applies to US broadcasters. A/85 is rooted in BS.1770 Loudness and True-peak level and uses LKFS as loudness unit.
Defined by the Association of Radio and Television Businesses (ARIB), TR-B32 is a Japanese broadcast standard that builds on ITU BS.1770-2.
