LM5 derives statistical information from the ITU-R BS.1770 standard to visualize instant loudness and loudness history. When production engineers, journalists and video editors realize the loudness boundaries they have to stay within, less dynamics processing is automatically needed during distribution. When processing is required for delivery to certain platforms, it may furthermore be referenced at the audio’s Center of Gravity, thereby avoiding washing out differences between foreground and background element of a mix.
LM5 Loudness Radar Meter may be used in conjunction with existing PPM and VU meters, and also greatly increases the usability of Dolby’s LM100 by providing running status, and a standardized indication of dialog as well as non-dialog program. The meter is valid for any type of program in mono and stereo and suitable for use in broadcast, post production, film and music alike.
