Nathaniel Kearney Jr. プロフィール
Nathaniel Kearney Jr. is the living proof that dedication, strong work ethics and perfecting your sound will take you places. In the case of Nathanial it has led him to play with some of the biggest names within the world of Soul and RnB.
It’s hard to believe that Nathaniel wasn’t born with a bass in his hand once you hear him play, but as a matter of fact the bass wasn’t his first choice when it came to picking a place to start within the world of music. At a young age Nathaniel developed a love for drums after spending countless hours listening to Gospel music like The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Pilgrim Jubilees and The Williams Brothers, and he immediately started playing the drums for his local church and different quartet groups in his area. Later on he started to learn the bass to get a better grasp of how great rhythm sections work. Little did he know that this was to become one of his best career choices ever!
After he picked up the bass he began listening to a more eclectic mix of music where the likes of Bonnie Raitt, Luther Vandross, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Temptations, Michael Jackson, Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, Stevie Wonder, & Aerosmith quickly became favorites of his. All of these different genres had a very profound influence on Nathaniel’s development as a bass player, and after deciding to pursue a career in music it is in fact his amazing versatility that has stood out as one of his biggest forces, next to his exceptional bass tone of course.
In 2005 he was called up to play for Kurt Carr & The Kurt Carr Singers, which saw him evolve immensely as a live musician. After a great run with Kurt Carr, Nathaniel decided to move to Los Angeles in 2009, which later proved to be the second best decision in his life after picking up the bass. This move would later see him play on stage with the likes of Babyface, Chuck Loeb, Toni Braxton, Avant, Taio Cruz and Smooth Jazz superstar Dave Koz, but also see him perform on huge TV shows like Ellen (NBC), The Monique Show (BET), and Lopez Tonight (TBS).
Currently, Nate is still holding down the low-end fort for Grammy Nominee Dave Koz, while also working hard on the follow-up to his solo debut “Back To Bassics” from 2012.
When asked how he feels about his TC Electronic gear, Nathaniel is only full of enthusiasm and praise. “I’ve waited a long time for bass equipment that offers so much for REALISTIC situations. Every feature offered is something ALL bass players can and will use. Whether I’m playing Rock, R&B, Pop or Smooth Jazz…using electric bass, bass synth, or my ukulele…my TC gear does one thing, and one thing only…DELIVER.
