At the age of eighteen, Maurice Fitzgerald began playing bass at the professional level and has maintained a diverse professional career for over two decades.
Maurice's extensive portfolio incorporates world-renowned jazz greats including Ramsey Lewis and Brian Culbertson, as well as gospel greats Donnie McClurkin and CeCe Winans.
Maurice began his love affair with the bass at a very young age, learning to play first from his Uncle. As his journey continued his earliest musical influences include contemporary jazz greats Marcus Miller, Anthony Jackson, Nathan East and Jaco Pastorius and gospel legends Joel Smith, Steve Huff and Andrew Crouch. These influences built a strong foundation for Maurice and allowed him to become one of the most accomplished diverse bass players in the industry. He has a wide array of studio, live recording and concert experience which allow him to display his versatility in multiple genres and perfected his unique ability with a crisp and distinctive sound. The consummate professional, Maurice has an impeccable career maintaining the highest level of musical integrity demonstrating a strong work ethic. He is highly regarded as a gifted musician who is a joy to work with.
Presently, Maurice is the bassist for the legendary Isley Brothers but his journey to greatness began years ago. He has collaborated and performed globally with gospel, pop and R & B legends such Beyoncé Knowles (formerly Destiny’s Child), R. Kelly and Ramsey Lewis establishing himself as a multi genre accomplished musician. Additionally, Maurice has toured and recorded with John P. Kee, Andre Crouch, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond and Marvin Sapp. His portfolio is strengthened by his work as the Musical Director for BeBe and CeCe Winans and appearance on the Grammy Award winning album “Still”, and a solid performance on The Clark Sister’s Live Grammy Award Winning “One Last Time” which won Best Traditional Gospel Album (2007).
