John Paul Jones プロフィール
John Paul Jones really needs no introduction, a tower of influence in music for over 45 years. Needless to say, we're extremely proud that John has chosen our Bass Amp 2.0 concept for some of his projects.
As a prolific session musician in the 1960s, he played and recorded with artists including Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, The Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart and Cat Stevens. He was a founding member of Led Zeppelin. Following his career with Led Zeppelin, he worked as a performer, arranger and producer for artists and groups including Diamada Galas, REM, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel and La Fura dels Baus. He released his debut solo album, Zooma, in 1999, followed by The Thunderthief (2001).
Since 2004, projects have included John Cage’s Music Circus at the Barbican under the direction of Stephen Montague, touring with bluegrass trio Nickel Creek, and working as co-composer and performer for Merce Cunningham’s Nearly Ninety. In 2009 he co-founded the band Them Crooked Vultures with Dave Grohl and Josh Homme. They have released a universally acclaimed album and toured worldwide to sold-out venues.
John has recently been performing with Seasick Steve at festivals across Europe, as well as collaborating with Norwegian avant-garde improvisers Supersilent which has led him to form a new project with Helge Sten (Supersilent) called Minibus Pimps. Using electronics, samplers, processors, instruments and ipads, the duo will be creating instrumental improvisations that will at times be ferocious and at other times intricate, their debut performance will be at Punkt Festival in Norway.
John is currently writing an opera, collaborating with acclaimed director Gerald Thomas.
