Chuck Jacobs プロフィール
Chuck Jacobs has been a professional bass player for more than 40 years. He has played with a long list of superstars, like Dolly Parton, Ray Charles, and Lionel Richie. He has also been Kenny Rogers’ bassist since 1979, almost Rogers’ entire solo career.
Jacobs’ roots are in classic rock and roll and jazz. He always thought he would play in a rock and roll band or jazz setting. Jacobs played in several bands before joining up with Kenny Rogers touring with R&B legend Hank Ballard, Wayne Cochran & the CC Riders and playing in a jazz trio based in NYC up until 1979 when that all changed. Almost on a whim, he told an old band-mate who played with Kenny Rogers, that he might be interested in playing bass for him. He was invited to meet Kenny, who was impressed enough that he hired Chuck right away. That was in January of 1979 and Jacobs has been playing with Rogers ever since, and has played on many of Rogers’ records and all of his live TV shows and tours totaling over 5000 performances world-wide.
His work with Kenny Rogers has led him to play with many huge stars, and his rock solid professionalism always provides great consistent bass lines. When he feels like experimenting a little more, he also plays in a jazz band, The Jacobs Brothers, with his brothers Dan and Rod Jacobs and guitarist Randy Dorman from Kenny Rogers’ band. Kenny Rogers has always been very encouraging of side projects, and most of the band has other projects to fill the time between gigs. Another of Chuck Jacobs’ side project is probasslines.com, where he offers up his services for anyone who might need a professional bass line for a project. You send him your music and a description of what you need, and he returns a bass track for you to use. Besides his own playing, Jacobs has produced more than 30 artists through the record label he has with his brother Dan. Chuck Jacobs has also published several books on playing bass.
Chuck Jacobs uses the Amazing TC Electronic RH450 Bass Amp. It lets him dial in his tone and settings like no other compact amp, and of course, the sound is amazing.
