Über Janek Gwizdala

London born US based artist, bass player, record producer, author and educator Janek Gwizdala has been on the international music scene for over 15 years. He dropped out early from both The Royal Academy of Music in London and Berklee College of Music in Boston to pursue his own musical journey.

Looking back through Janek’s CV, it’s clear that this is a man who likes to do things his own way. The Royal Academy of Music in London would only take one bass player a year, but that didn’t stop him from quitting after only a year. Janek quickly moved to Berklee College of Music, citing the US’s love of all things Jazz as a pivotal factor.

Three semesters later Janek would leave for New York, quickly establishing himself on the scene as he racked up experience with such legends as Airto Moreira, Delta Goodrem, Flora Purim, Gary Husband, Jem, Paul Shafer, John Mayer, Jojo Mayer, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Marcus Miller, Hiram Bullock, Peter Erskine, Randy Brecker, V. V. Brown and Wayne Krantz. Contacts in New York would also see Janek establish himself as a producer, cutting his teeth with multi-platinum artists Ronny Jordan and Mike Phillips.

As a first class bass player, Janek has toured extensively with some of the best in the business and is a regular on festival circuits. He's also made regular forays into the musical director's chair, most notably for platinum-selling Welsh singer/songwriter Jem.

2008 saw Janek's talents enlisted by Delta Goodrem, one of the biggest selling female artists of all time in Australia, while commitments for 2009 will see Janek working with legendary trumpeter and flugelhornist Randy Brecker as well as touring with his own 'Janek Gwizdala Project'.

Janek's sound benefits from the raw power and clear tone of TC Electronics' bass amps as well as from FlashBack Delay and Vortex Flanger he uses in his rig.
