The Transparent Loop

We are the world's premier supplier of automatic loudness correction equipment and our high-quality audio loudness range trickle-down concept works independently of metadata, but nevertheless is fully compliant with metadata in, for instance, the AC3 codec.

DB processors not only automate loudness control in a proper way, they also help take the extra workload and unpredictable behavior out of the codec.

Apply it in ingest and/or transmission as part of a transparent loop, based on international open broadcast standards, spanning from production over transmission to delivery at the home viewer/listener.

Throughout the world, legislation on loudness in television is being introduced as we speak. Not all countries rely on the same standard and all of them are ever-evolving, but regardless of your location and which TC Electronic Loudness-related units you use, rest assured that you will always be compliant with the latest revision of the broadcast standard that you need to conform to.

ITU BS.1770

Defined by The International Telecommunication Union, the ITU BS.1770 recommendation is global and one of the most important broadcast standards as many other standards are based on it.

Our broadcast products supports all revisions of BS.1770, including the latest BS.1770-3.

EBU R128

The P/LOUD group, which is part of The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), has defined the R128 standard that applies to many European countries.

ATSC A/85

ATSC A/85 is specified by The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) and applies to US broadcasters. A/85 is rooted in BS.1770 Loudness and True-peak level and uses LKFS as loudness unit.

TR-B32

Defined by the Association of Radio and Television Businesses (ARIB), TR-B32 is a Japanese broadcast standard that builds on ITU BS.1770-2.

OP-59

Operational practice by FreeTV, Australia, OP-59 is rooted in BS.1770 Loudness and True-peak level and recommends a speech based as well as a universal approach to audio normalization.

Connectivity

Audio I/O include 24 bit AES3-id on BNC connectors and balanced analog on XLR connectors with analog domain gain scaling. Digital as well as analog I/O feature hardware bypass.

Remote control may be established via RS232, USB and/or GPI; and SNMP signaling is available via the Icon application.
