About Michael “SmooveGroove” Hamilton
Affectionately known as Smoove among his peers, Michael 'SmooveGroove' Hamilton is one of the most sought after bass players and musical directors by the UK's major record labels.
Known equally for the intricate proficiency of his playing as for his unrivalled work ethic, Smoove currently serves as bass player for Jessie J alongside his musical directing for Tinie Tempah, Daley, Sasha Keable and emerging hip hop trio Hawk House.
Smoove grew up in a very musical family. His father is a singer-songwriter and guitarist and a young Smoove, keen to follow in his dad's footsteps and play the guitar, would always pick out bass lines as opposed to chord structures so it was quickly apparent that bass would be the natural path for him to follow.
At the tender age of 12, Smoove began to play bass at church, accompanying his father, and it was through church that he gained a lot of his experience and learned the art of playing by ear.
After leaving school, Smoove quickly became sure that music was his calling and set about tirelessly perfecting his craft and gaining as much experience as possible. Building on his experience of playing with artists such as All Saints, VV Brown, Pixie Lott, Blame Coco and Peter Andre, he branched out into the world of musical direction. In only a few years, his company, Major Tones Music, has become one of the most successful musical direction and musician staffing companies in Europe.
