About Bryan Beller

Bryan is a member of Supergroup The Aristocrats with Guthrie Govan and Marco Minnemann. He also plays in what might be called The Monkees of death metal, Dethklok from the animated Adult Swim show Metalocalypse.

The thing about Bryan Beller, is that he can play pretty much anything in any style, so it's hard to pin down a specific style, that you might call 'his'. With Dethklok he plays hard death metal with aggressive finger moves. In prog rock supergroup The Aristocrats his playing is certainly still very decisive, but perhaps not quite as aggressive or hardly driven. His solo work is more along the lines of jazz/rock.

Besides his work as a solo artist and with his various bands, he has worked as a sideman for such luminaries as Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and many others.

If you like music where no instrument is a second class citizen, then The Aristocrats may be for you. Beller, Govan and Minnemann all write songs, and seem to challenge the other band members, to bring out the very best in each other. And when you're playing with legendary virtuosos like Guthrie Govan and Marco Minnemann, your best has to be good.

It's not exactly unusual to find great versatility in a musician at this level, but for someone to move effortlessly between jazz fusion and death metal, and do both extremely competently and with authority is hardly typical. And he mostly plays all of it on the same bass. A Mike Lull Custom 5-string. He does switch it up occasionally with a four-string instead of his usual five.

Bryan Beller has been using the Flashback Delay and Hall Of Fame Reverb, and he is very impressed by their performance and features.

"Every time I engage them, I'm inspired to play something beyond what I'd originally imagined. And the tonal flexibility is unmatched - first with the stock pedal settings, and then even more with the Toneprint capability."

Active since around '94, Beller's first solo album didn't come out until 2003. It was incredibly well received in bass circles. He has since released another studio album and a live album. With the Aristocrats he has relesed two studio albums and a live album.
