About André "Dré" Bowman
Whether he's writing songs for others, working on production or playing the bass himself André 'Dré' Bowman is going to make the bass line something special.
André Bowman amazing bass chops has led him to play with some of the biggest stars in the business. Usher, Mary J. Blige, Ashlee Simpson, and The Black Eyed Peas to name just a few.
In fact, it's hard to stop listing the crazy list of legends Dré has worked with. like Jay-Z, Cee-Lo Green, Backstreet Boys, Stevie Wonder, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Busta Rhymes, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, and Biz Markie - to name just a few more…
Bowman has played since he was seven. Starting with the cello, he later moved to the upright bass. It was only later that he heard someone at school playing the electric, that he lost his heart to the arcane art of the electric bass. Dré attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston. He lists some of his influences as Jaco Pastorius, Marcus Miller, Nathan East and Bootsy Collins.
Dré likes to make the bass line mean something. To make it something people will remember. It has to support the song of course, but he also likes to make it special enough that it'll make people move and take note.
Dré currently works as a bassist and tour playback engineer for R&B superstar Usher. He also plays bass for will.i.am and the Backstreet Boys.
In addition to the performance aspect of his career, Dré writes and produces as well.
